The Instructor 

Music educator Midori Nakayama has 15+ years of experience teaching violin, viola and piano, in both private and group class settings.  She received Master of Music and Professional Studies Diploma from San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She was also a chamber music coach at Summer Music West, and a guest instructor at Santa Ana College string ensemble.  The Schools she had appeared as an instructor include; Yamaha Music School (Irvine), ABI Instruments (Anaheim), Serramonte Music Center (Daly City), Melody Academy of Music (Palo Alto), Amabile School of Music (San Francisco), and Grace Notes Music School (Burlingame).  

Midori focuses on teaching a proper posture and set-up of violin especially to the beginning students, and she has developed her own, confident methods to introduce this beautiful instrument to young pupils.  She is a very patient instructor, seeking potential in each student and find the most effective way to teach them tailored for their personalities and needs. It is her ultimate goal to see each student grow and enjoy making music!

The Studio 

The lesson studio is located in Parkmerced, San Francisco, at a cozy townhouse.  It is quiet and peaceful, a perfect environment to take music lessons.  Upright piano is on-site for piano lessons, and teacher's piano accompaniment for your violin playing.  Lots of free parking by the studio and easy public transit to the studio (Muni M-Ocean View light-rail, Muni bus routes 57, 28 and 29, BART and SamTrans route 122).

The Lesson Fee

30 min lesson: $35 (studio) / $40 (at student's home)

45 min lesson: $52 (studio) / $57 (at student's home)

60 min lesson: $70 (studio) / $75 (at student's home)
